How will you make an impact?

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will work with other talented scientists and engineers within Environmental and Processing Monitoring business group. You will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of sophisticated analytical instrumentation. You will architect the design, analysis, simulation, test, and integration of electrical systems. The role involves leadership and collaboration with engineers (electrical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing), technology scientists, project managers, contractors, and suppliers through the product lifecycle.

What will you do?

  • Design electronic circuits to meet system requirements, investigate system level feasibility and electronic architectures
  • Implement feasibility verification with scientist and technology development personnel, propose innovative idea or design for problem solving and performance improvement
  • Develop system requirements for electronics modules
  • Utilize modern CAD tools for schematic entry, design simulation, and PCB layout
  • Interface with contractors, prototype vendors, and fabrication facilities to deliver electronic modules
  • Perform detail verification tests
  • Work with project development team to ensure projects on schedule, meet specification and cost target
  • Ensure products are DFM, DFS, and comply with regulatory requirements as appropriate
  • Coordinate quality improvement efforts in both prototype and production system
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of all work carried out to preserve the intellectual property of the company
  • Mentor junior engineer, technicians and other support personnel such as external layout contractor
  • All other duties as assigned

How will you get here?


  • PhD in Electrical Engineering AND 3 years of relevant electronic/system design experience; OR master's degree in Electrical Engineering AND 5 years of relevant electronic/system design experience; OR bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering field AND 10 years of relevant electronic/system design experience

  • Demonstrates mastery of design and analytical tools required in role and associated industry standards, and best practices, including low noise analog, high impedance, medium power, digital, radio frequency, VHDL, and/or microcontroller design
  • Knowledge and experience programming microcontrollers and field programmable gate arrays (FPGA) - competency with C and VHDL preferred
  • Hands-on extensive experience performing electronic bench work - demonstrable competency with industry tools and techniques for test and measurement
  • Advanced experience with sensor conditioning and data acquisition system such as low current or low noise sensor conditioning
  • Advanced experience and knowledge from scientific principle, electronic measurement to system performance for measurement technology such as infrared sensor, mass spectrometer, laser, PMT, XRF

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Able to translate marketing requirements into a system architecture and document requirements in module specifications and subsystem deliverables
  • Able to prioritize complex engineering tasks
  • Have expert knowledge of applicable industry standards and requirements such as IEC61010, EMC, UL, CE
  • Expertise using schematic capture and PCB layout software (Altium preferred)
  • Able to integrate simulation tools into design work
  • Basic software programming knowledge sufficient to write applications for laboratory testing, debugging, and control of electronics and hardware.
