Job Description

This is a position of high trust in regard to both GTRI and the US National Security community. The Signals and System Division (SASD) within the Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL) of GTRI develops physics-based models and performs complex math- and physics-based analysis of highly sensitive sensor and electronic warfare capabilities. The division maintains subject matter expertise in areas of sensor processing, electronic warfare techniques, systems engineering, and threat analysis. These technical areas are combined in modeling and simulation or testing environments to evaluate novel kill web techniques and concepts. To support this, SASD core competencies include signal processing, waveform development, advanced computing and mathematics to support concept evaluation, modeling and simulation methods and data reduction efforts. This position requires exemplary professional conduct and adherence to stringent standards and security regulations well-beyond that required by the average GTRI employee.

This position is for a senior researcher and further requires a person with strong leadership, organizational and project management skills. The Signals and Systems Division provides sponsors and GTRI leadership with expert knowledge of operational systems, threat systems and technical requirements for future threat systems. Any candidate must exhibit strengths in at least one of these areas.

Job Duties:

  • Perform detailed analysis regarding performance of sensor, waveform or employment concepts, from simple to complex scenarios.
  • Develop custom software to evaluate novel implementation of sensors (RADAR, EO/IR or ESM), signal and/or image processing with an emphasis on electronic warfare techniques.
  • Derive technical metrics then develop and execute data analytics. Dataset sizes vary from small to extremely large.
  • Maintain configuration management of COTS/GOTS and developed software.
  • Document analyses and research findings in both PowerPoint and technical prose.
  • Perform programmatic and technical planning tasks.
  • Interface with technical and non-technical sponsors in order to communicate research findings.
