Maxim’s Mobile Power Business Unit is seeking a Product Definer with expertise in battery management applications. As part of Maxim’s Mobile Business Unit’s Battery Management team, you will play a key role in defining and developing products that go into smartphones, wireless headsets, gaming consoles, and other leading edge consumer electronics. Working within a talented team of engineers, you will be developing solutions for Lithium-ion fuel gauging and charging. This is a unique opportunity for someone who is passionate about developing leading edge consumer hardware. You’ll be involved in the complete product life cycle from system concept through to customer device mass production.

The Product Definer role is highly valued at Maxim and our Product Definers receive considerable recognition for their work. The successful applicant will become part of a close-knit winning team.

Responsibilities and Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Development, simulation, and bench evaluation of algorithms for battery fuel gauging and charging
  • Completing product definitions that our design teams can turn into successful products
  • Researching competitive solutions and devising better ones
  • Interface with customers and the business team to understand market trends and customer needs to create product roadmaps
  • Write application notes, user guides, articles, design ideas, datasheet manuscripts for internal/external publication
  • Travel globally to engage with key partner customers and Maxim internal design staff.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8 years of Lithium Ion Battery experience with Bachelor’s degree in EE, or 6 years of Lithium Ion Battery experience with Master’s degree in EE
  • Programming skills and experience (expertise with Python and C is a plus)
  • Strong knowledge about power electronics (knowledge in switching regulators and/or battery chargers is a plus)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid industry experience working with Lithium-ion batteries and in-depth knowledge of battery chargers, fuel gauges, and general power electronics.
