The RMD DT Digital Business Infrastructure (DBI) team delivers shared infrastructure solutions and services to enable the transformation of the RMD business. These capabilities include Enterprise Common Classified networks, as well as on premise, hybrid, and commercial cloud & DevOps infrastructure development, deployment, and sustainment. Additionally, the DBI team enables business transformation through factory / operational technology service integration and modernization and Engineering lab standardization and cyber hardening.

As a Cloud Systems Administrator in our Program Resource Center (PRC) team youll be part of a highly skilled group, delivering cutting edge IT/DT solutions, while supporting a prestige hosting service.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:
  • Work with internal research and development leads on assessing their compute and storage needs, and provision services for them using the latest in technology
  • Develop standard server images and maintain them for patches and updates
  • Create and deploy virtual machines for our critical strategic initiatives
  • Maintain a Hyper-converged infrastructure providing record beating standup times
  • Research new infrastructure technology trends, assessing their utility and developing concept of operations for deployment within the PRC.
  • Assist in managing public cloud resources, including administration of cloud costs and utilization
  • Manage and triage support requests through ticketing system, while carefully documenting updates and/or resolution.
  • Provide detailed weekly status reports.
This role will be filled at either a G08 (Sr. Systems Administrator I) or G09 (Sr. Systems Administrator II) level depending upon the skills and experience level of the selected applicant at the discretion of the hiring manager.

This position requires a U.S. Security Clearance (Secret from Dept. of Defense) to be obtained within 1 year of start date. Except in rare cases only US Citizens are eligible to obtain Security Clearances from the US Govt.

This role is based in Tewksbury, MA (primary) with occasional travel our Andover, MA location. If necessary, capped budget relocation is available to the selected applicant if they are qualified per company policy. The budget amount to be discussed at the appropriate stage of the process. Qualified candidate may be able to work remote at management's discretion.


Required Education, Experience and Skills:
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, Mathematics or a Technical Discipline OR significant applicable professional experience in a related field in lieu of a Bachelors Degree
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in systems engineering or systems administration
  • Possess strong technical skills across multiple IT disciplines such as: cloud enabling technologies (Hyper-converged systems, virtualization, automation, scripting, compute, storage, encryption, cyber security, etc.)
  • Strong skills in Unix/Linux and Windows
  • Security+ certification or willingness to obtain one within 6 months of employment
  • Understanding and appreciation for cyber-security vulnerability remediation and system hardening
  • Strong understanding of fundamental networking/distributed computing environment and TCP/IP concepts
  • Working knowledge of best practices in system security as it pertains to IT solutions

Desired Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with public Cloud implementations, e.g. AWS, Azure
  • Familiarity with Hyper-converged infrastructure, such as VxRail, Nutanix, SimpliVity
  • Understanding of physical and virtualized storage (e.g. VSAN) and networking (e.g. NSX)
  • Scripting/automation - 2+ years experience with automation tools such as Chef, Ansible or Puppet
  • Proven success working within a large multi-disciplined teams to achieve a common technical solution
  • IT Security compliance process based on the Risk Management Framework with familiarity with DoD security configuration requirements, hardening procedures and settings.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Innovative and strategic approach to problem solving
  • Solid interpersonal skills, ability to debate, dialogue, negotiate, influence and work with others collaboratively and constructively
  • Self-motivated; ability to work independently
  • Ability to work multiple projects/programs simultaneously
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments
