Job Description

We are looking for a SerDes Solutions architect with a focus on Hard IP, ensuring the overall system designs meet customer requirements, as well as internal and external quality requirements.  In this position, you will be working alongside a World-class SOC design team within CAS as well as the IP design teams and will be responsible for ASIC implementation of SerDes designs ranging from PCIe Gen5 to 100G PAM4 Ethernet as well as other serial die to die interconnects.  Additionally, working with Post Silicon Electrical and System Validation teams to ensure all customer requirements are met.


Custom ASIC Solutions (CAS) is part of Custom Logic Engineering (CLE) within Data Center and Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) BU, chartered to provide ASIC SD solutions to Datacenter/5G external customers, Intel Xeon teams and Intel Foundry Services (IFS) in leading edge technologies such in Intel i4, i3 and i20A process nodes and TSMC 5nm, 3nm etc.


Determines, specifies, and evaluates the viability of complex hardware features and structures and ensures that software and hardware designs interface correctly. Designs framework for functions. Defines, documents and tests processes for inclusion into technical platforms, subsystem specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves subsystem and/or SoC design weaknesses. Influences the shaping of future products by significantly contributing to the architecture used across design families. Provides multilayered technical expertise for next generation initiatives.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Engages with key customers on current and future SERDES architectures and requirements.

  • Gather requirements for next generation SERDES and demonstrating technology capability.

  • Provide customer support and design win effort in the area related to SERDES Design, Simulation, Bring Up Characterization, and Evaluation.

  • Provide leadership and engineering support to customers and applications team in both pre silicon and post silicon phase.

  • Work with IP teams and customers to ensure proper usage of the SERDES for various applications and protocols.

Minimum Education Requirements
Bachelors' degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Electronics or Computer Engineering.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in design, development, implementation, and application of ASICs with high-speed IO and SERDES.

  • 4+ years of experience in ASICs, SERDES and networking applications.

  • Experience in (SI) Signal Integrity Concepts, including sources and causes of noise and jitter.

  • Experience in communication systems theory relating to SERDES, SERDES IP architecture and implementation.

  • Experience with PAM4 SERDES architecture including (FEC) (Forward Error Correction) and link training/auto negotiation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters' degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Electronics or Computer Engineering.

  • Experience in programming and data analysis with either Python, Matlab, Perl, C++ or any Object-Oriented language.

  • Experience in RTL design.

  • Experience with FEC Architecture and simulations.

  • Experience in SERDES analysis and simulation with COM and IBIS-AMI.

  • Protocols, such as PCI Express, IEEE 802.3bs/cd/ck (example 50G-BASEKR), OIF CEI-53G, JESD 204X, or CPRI/OBSAI

Work Model for this Role

This role is available as fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need.
