Job Description

As a Silicon Photonics (SiP) Development Process Integration Engineer, you will be part of Intel's Process Development and Manufacturing team that is leading Intel's market transition and driving innovation for next generation of optical interconnect products. You will be working on the research and development of novel integrated photonic devices for high-speed optical interconnects and sensing applications, and thus will play a critical role in the next generation of silicon photonics fabrication processes and products.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Defines and establishes flows, procedures, and required equipment to develop new devices or products.

  • Selects and develops materials and equipment that enables new processes to meet reliability, yield, cost and manufacturability requirements.

  • Plans and conducts experiments to fully characterize the process throughout the development cycle.

  • Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education, statistical knowledge, and problem-solving tools.

  • Develops strategies to resolve difficult problems and establishes systems to deal with these problems in the future.

  • Trains ramp/production engineers for the transfer of new processes/products to production/volume manufacturing.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Master or Ph.D. in an Engineering and/or Science discipline such as Chemical/Electrical/Materials Engineering, Physics, Optics/Photonics or related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in any of the following: Optics, Photonics, SiP, Lasers, or III/V compounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in semiconductor processing and process integration, defect reduction and/or yield analysis/improvement.

  • 1+ years of experience of semiconductor and/or SiP process flow.

  • 1+ years of experience of practical experience with modulators, ring resonators, directional couplers, grating couplers, III-V Lasers, etc.

  • 1+ years of experience in advanced data analysis, and statistical process control (SPC) or Design of Experiments (DOE) principles.
