Job Description

You will be part of IPG-ITVG-VICE team. VICE is the Validation IO/IP Center of Excellence at Intel. Our organization validates leading IP technologies in the world (such as PCIe, USB, Thunderbolt/Type-C, Sensors, Audio, Security etc). We use cutting edge FPGA and emulation environments to validate the controllers for SoC/product teams. We also validate IP Subsystem/PHYs on the test chips. Further, we validate IPs and Discrete chips that span across different ISAs (x8086, RISC-V, ARM). We develop IP validation content and firmware to test our IP portfolio that spans client and server segments.

As an FPGA/Emulation engineer you will be developing Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and/or emulation models and solutions for next generation IP technology and SoC designs.  You will work closely with architecture, design, validation and software teams in order to meet project goals.  The responsibilities cover the following:

  • Develop FPGA/emulation models from Register Transfer Level (RTL) designs using FPGA/Emulation synthesis and place and route tools.

  • Design and develop interfaces between FPGA/emulation model to software or external hardware using RTL.

  • Bring up and debug the FPGA/emulation model in simulation and hardware platforms.

  • Develop tests to validate the functionality of the FPGA/emulation model both in simulation using System Verilog and on hardware platform using Python.

  • Develop automation flows to integrate and build FPGA/Emulation models in Linux environment using Python/Tcl/Perl.

  • Communicate with architecture/design/validation/software teams to debug and isolate issues found on the FPGA/emulation models.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience would be obtained through a combination of prior education level classes, and current level school classes, projects, research, and relevant previous job and internship experience. 

Minimum Qualifications:

B.S./M.S. in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering.

Knowledge of Register Transfer Level (RTL) design using system Verilog/Verilog/VHDL.

Knowledge of computer architecture.

Scripting in Python/Tcl/Perl.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience implementing designs on FPGA is a plus.

Knowledge on industry standard protocols such as PCI Express/Universal Serial Bus is a plus.

Familiar with working in Linux development environment is a plus.

Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
