Job Description

The Software and Advanced Technology Group is looking for a software engineer to research, develop, and optimize industry leading parallel runtime libraries for Intel's compute platforms. In this role, you will be working with other high performance computing experts to develop the world's leading HPC systems used for scientific research and artificial intelligence. As a critical member of our team responsible for designing high performance data communication algorithms, you will have the opportunity to optimize system performance and provide feedback to hardware engineering teams on future product design. In addition, this role will use key insights into customer applications and workloads to drive design improvements.

An ideal candidate for this position will have experience designing and optimizing parallel runtime libraries used in HPC clusters and a thorough understanding of hardware components used in high performance computing, including discrete GPUs, CPUs, high performance interconnects, and networking software stacks. A candidate should have a solid understanding of system performance analysis and be able to debug complex defects. As part of a high performing team, this role requires excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a team oriented environment. Also required is a keen desire to work with customer support engineers to keep our stakeholders happy and productive.

  • Experience with CPU architecture, discrete GPUs, high performance network/fabric and I/O software stacks and interconnect layers

  • Good understanding of system software (library, OS, runtime...)

  • Fluency in C/C++ with strong debugging skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of network transports, programming models for distributed memory such as MPI, PGAS. Experience with other parallel programming paradigms such as OpenMP, Cilk Plus, or Threading Building Blocks

  • Familiarity with compilers (gcc, LLVM, Intel) and the load/link process

  • Comfortable working with simulators

  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux, and scripting languages (e.g. bash, Perl, Python, or Ruby).

  • Sysadmin experience for Linux systems

Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.
