We are seeking individuals with expertise in machine and deep learning, algorithm development, or Big Data software engineering. Candidates do not need experience in all of these areas but should have expert level knowledge and hands-on experience in at least one.  As a member of CUIC, your day-to-day work will be in one or more of the following:
  • Apply your knowledge of Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Remote Sensing, or Big Data processing to nationally important problems by developing prototype software to measure the feasibility of an algorithm/approach.
  • Adapt research done in academia and industry to our sponsors uniquely challenging data sources and problems sets.
  • Code in MATLAB, Python, C++, Java or other languages for prototyping/testing algorithms and software tools in a team environment.
  • White-board (i.e. brainstorming, problem solving) with experienced technical staff to develop solutions for challenging problems, working with a small team to implement/test those solutions, and quantifying their accuracy.
  • Analyze data from cutting-edge sensor systems including video, infrared, hyperspectral, and others.
  • Conduct quantitative data analysis using a variety of datasets to identify, monitor, and explore operations.
  • Design and develop retrieval, processing, fusion, analysis, and visualization of various datasets. In addition, the individual will be leveraging backend/frontend software and utilizing/integrating various data platforms to support rapid analytics including the use of data visualization tools.
  • Keep current with computer vision and machine learning research to replicate and baseline new techniques published in academia
  • Learn new techniques and approaches on-the-job by leveraging both structured educational content, as well as expertise from team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS and 3 years related experience
  • *Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics/Statistics, Operation Research, or other physical science/engineering fields.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and capable of working with scientists, analysts, and technical software developers across several technical disciplines.
  • Strong software development and/or algorithmic scripting skills, preferably with knowledge of machine learning and/or deep learning frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4 years of experience working technical challenges associated with machine learning and/or computer vision.
  • Domain knowledge of machine learning and computer vision techniques for classification, detection, key attribute extraction, segmentation, or activity detection.
  • Hands-on experience using computer vision and machine learning libraries such as Caffe, TensorFlow, Torch, SciPy, OpenCV
  • Practical experience in statistics.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and a keen desire to learn.
  • Familiar with how to retrieve data from databases and other systems and tools using queries, exporting capabilities, and other effective methods.
  • Fully responsible for deliverables-including definition, completion, and technical quality, as well as assuring consistency across the responsibility span.
  • Object-oriented programming and principles, in Python, C++, or Java.
  • Some hands-on experience with Big Data systems/tools, e.g. Hadoop, Cloudera, Horton Works, IBM Insights, MongoDB, Spark, Storm, HDFS, HBase, Accumulo, HIVE, PIG, SQL, Cassandra. Kafka and equivalents.
  • Experience in Data Modeling and Architecture.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and visualization in Python.
  • TS/SCI level clearance
