Job Description

The Space Systems Program Office (SSPO) in the Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL) is seeking an engineer or physicist to support the design, analysis, construction and testing of prototype spaceflight hardware. Specific tasks will include hardware design engineering; system engineering; analysis, modeling and simulation of space vehicles and systems; sensor analysis and modeling, sensor data processing, thermal analysis and test engineering.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering.

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Design, production and test of high-reliability electronics for space or military applications
  • Physics-based modeling and simulation of complex systems
  • Spacecraft component or system engineering

Preferred Qualifications

  • Thesis research involving physics-based modeling and simulation of complex systems or engineering of spacecraft components or systems.

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
