In this highly collaborative role, you will lead build / release efforts between a variety of Apple engineering teams and external partners to develop state of the art technologies for world-renowned Apple products.The Accessories group is seeking a Firmware Build Manager to help drive collaboration between cross-functional engineering teams for embedded firmware development and coordination of features with OS teams. Projects include internally developed and co-developed products where we partner with external companies to create new and exciting accessories to enhance our customer experience

Key Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience as an engineering program manager requiredMinimum 3 years in consumer products as an engineering program managerUnderstanding of development and manufacturing processes including test validation Track record of shipping products and managing them through the entire product life cycleHistory of handling business relationships with suppliers and partners Experience working with off shore manufacturers and travel to manufacturing sitesStrong background in software and hardware technologiesExcellent written and oral communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse teams and interact, influence, collaborate, and negotiate effectively at all levels of managementKnowledgeable of one or more technologies: wireless, DSP, battery, connectivity, UX/UI, and embedded software


In this dynamic position, you will develop, manage, and drive the end-to-end execution of hardware and embedded firmware development programs throughout the product development lifecycle and delivery stages. We are looking for someone who is flexible and can respond quickly, energetically, and enthusiastically to changes. Strong communication and experience across and between a diversity of teams and team members is critical. The EPM will interact with all engineering design disciplines plus safety, reliability, marketing, manufacturing, and other resources inside and outside Apple to create exceptional accessories

  • \tEnsure product requirements are clearly defined
  • \tBreak down complex software/hardware issues into simple tasks
  • \tDevelop and oversee comprehensive project plans
  • \tIdentify and handle program cross-functional dependencies between teams
  • \tCommunicate development achievements, project timelines and status updates and drive alignment across the organization and between teams
  • \tCoordinate with teams to identify issues, prioritize tasks and track risks to schedule and product quality
  • \tDrive factory readiness in support of hardware builds
  • \tCoordinate multiple validation plans across teams
  • \tUnderstand engineering issues and drive them to closure by bringing together key partners for decision-making
  • \tManage and foster external partner relationships and communication
  • \tGrasp complex technical topics and abstract key issues and risks into an actionable form for executive management
  • \tMaintain an orientation toward teamwork and collaboration
  • \tProvide regular program status updates and communicate critical issues as needed to executive team

    Education & Experience

  • \tB.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related disciplines.
  • \tM.S. is highly desired
