The Intel Programmable Solutions Group (PSG, formed from the acquisition of Altera) seeks a Strategic Planner for the Intellectual Property (IP) component of Intel's Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Solutions. Come join a team of Planners who are responsible for making decisions that have a global and long-lasting impact on the business and posture of the organization.

Strategic IP Planner is a critical and visible role within PSG's Product Planning organization, which is often part of a Product Management function in other organizations.

A Strategic IP Planner is responsible for synthesizing and analyzing requirements from various sources including PSG's product roadmap, strategy and marketing teams, PSG business divisions and other Intel business units, customers, and sales/field/support teams. As a Planner, you will take on challenging and often ambiguous problems, applying sound business judgment in defining solutions and effectively communicating complex issues to audiences that may include senior executives, marketing, engineering, sales, and customers. Planners work closely with engineering teams to ensure that all requirements and feature specifications are well defined and prioritized, to drive the engineering delivery process and timeline for hard (silicon) and soft (configurable logic) IP.

The PSG IP solutions portfolio includes a comprehensive breadth of hard and soft IP targeting compute, networking/connectivity, and memory interfaces, as well as acceleration workloads for a variety of end markets and segments such as Cloud/Data Center and Enterprise, 5G Wireless Network, Wireline Communications, Edge and Media/Display.

In this position, your focus will be on soft IP solutions for protocols that may include MIPI (Mobile Industry Processor Interface), or GPON (Gigabit Ethernet passive optical network), or important functions like DMA (Direct memory access).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the definition, trade-off analysis, and convergence of next-generation IP solutions that enable various FPGA end markets and applications.
  • Generate market/product/feature requirements based on input from customers and business partners
  • Network and coordinate with business stakeholders to continuously drive customer requirements into the product definitions and solutions roadmap
  • Maintain and communicate a detailed IP product roadmap
  • Identify risks, mitigations, and contingencies associated with the roadmap and develop a cohesive competitive positioning strategy
  • Coordinate with Planning peers to align inter-dependent programs and solutions
  • Manage and track input to Engineering direction/deliverables and change requests
  • Play the role of strategic interface and alignment across broader Intel

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related field of study
  • 5+ years of experience in FPGA applications and IP, or related domains

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a customer-facing and engagement role
  • Technical depth and understanding of FPGA or ASIC based IP targeting markets including Cloud/Data Center and Enterprise, 5G Wireless Network, Wireline Communications, Edge and Media/Display
  • Technical depth and understanding of FPGA development flows and solutions
  • Direct experience in architecting FPGA-based solutions for an end market/application
  • Industry knowledge of dynamics, trends, success factors, and competitive forces in FPGA end markets/applications
