Student Assistant Spring 2021 - Research Security

Job Description

Research Security (RS) at GTRI seeks student assistants to provide operational support for GT/GTRI in the protection of government classified and sensitive information and the physical areas in which this material resides. This protection of classified and sensitive information is accomplished through the following security disciplines; Physical Security, Information Security, Personnel Security clearances, Classified Material Services (document control), Communication Security, Operations Security, Contract Security (DD Form 254), Counterintelligence, Visitor Control and Security Awareness and Training.

The student will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with fingerprint scheduling/process
  • Screening GT visitors with clearances that are attending meetings for proper credentials
  • Help to verify personal credentials/identification and information from the visitors and their security office
  • Provide security oversight at classified meetings, seminars and conferences
  • Delivery of classified and unclassified mail to our Cobb County Facility
  • Updating various databases with security updates and modifications
  • Greeting customers and directing them to the appropriate security personnel
  • Filing/Scanning personnel folders, paperwork, and contracts into digital format
  • Ordering and distributing office supplies and staff mail
  • Maintenance and creation of spreadsheets
  • Answering phone calls, taking messages, and redirecting calls as necessary
  • Assisting other security personnel when needed and additional duties as assigned
  • Assist with our annual security inspection and self-inspection.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Management, or Engineering at a University System of Georgia institution
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university during working semesters
  • Must have a 2.0 or higher GPA
  • Must be able to obtain a SECRET clearance
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Must take the GT drivers course upon arrival

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft and Excel
  • Expected graduation date between Summer 2020 and Fall 2022

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
