The Sort Test Equipment/Collaterals Supply Chain Engineer SCE position is a hybrid SCE and Commodity Manager CM role. This position is responsible for technical program management of Intel's tool suppliers and accountable for supply line health contracts quality and delivery.

The Supply Chain R&D Engineer: 

  • Owns and drives the technical working group that defines the priorities for the supplier.
  • Collaborates with Technology Development (TD) engineers to create and maintain relevant specifications and mutual expectation documents to minimize variability and subjectivity to align with operational and supplier capability requirements.
  • Works with suppliers to define requirements and holds suppliers accountable for their manufacturing process flow to meet quality reliability cost yield and manufacturability requirements.
  • Drives continuous process and quality improvements.
  • Manages new tool purchases as needed to support next-generation products along with driving the lower cost of ownership for Intel with the supplier.
  • This requires ownership in working with internal stakeholders suppliers and technical engineers in developing short and long-term strategies.
  • Partners with Finance to develop ROI models review should cost models and negotiate with the supplier to ensure Intel is getting a competitive deal.
  • Owns writing and revising equipment specific contracts.
  • Works with internal owners to better understand the technical roadmap and future capacity needs which may impact equipment forecast and purchases.
  • Is the owner in developing alternatives if purchasing new equipment is not a viable option.
  • Establishes and manages the business process with the supplier on equipment forecast and deliveries.
  • Is the POC for the supplier to approach to work on specific equipment's cost reduction projects and initiatives short and long-term strategies.
  • Partners with other members of the Intel account team to develop and align on the strategy for supplier management to drive the supplier to be world-class.

The ideal candidate should exhibit the following behavioral traits:

  • Highly organized and have efficient time management.
  • Comfortable in mediating between Intel engineering stakeholders and suppliers in confrontational situations and finding a win-win solution using data and analytical traits.
  • Interface with a cross-functional group at multiple levels and have great interpersonal communication.
  • Influences team members stakeholders and the supplier to make the right decision even if it is not the majority's view.


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • This position is not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.
  • Candidate must possess at least one of the following 3 degrees; plus, the years of experience required for each degree in the areas specified below:

1- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Science or related field of study with 6+ years of relevant experience.

2- Master's Degree in Engineering Science or related field of study with 4+ years of relevant experience.

3- Ph.D. in Engineering Science or related field of study with 2+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA degree.
  • Commodity Management and Engineering experience.
  • Cleanroom experience.
  • Program management experience and a history of successful problem-solving in a difficult environment dealing with difficult customers and/or suppliers.
  • Familiarity with PC Specs participation in supplier working groups and disposition of supplier change control.
  • Experience with writing contracts supplier negotiations and selections familiarity with Intel's purchasing business policies and working knowledge of Ariba system and/or experience with developing ROIs and should cost modeling with finance.

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
