Job Description

As the Supply Chain R&D Engineer in the Global Supply Chain Assembly Equipment organization, you will be driving equipment development projects in the area of Metrology Inspection and Robotic Material Handling Systems supporting ATTD (Assembly Test Technology Development) advance packaging road maps. The chosen candidate will closely collaborate with business partners to design and develop next-generation package assembly capabilities using advanced robotics, automation solutions, and equipment designs.  Also, will act as the escalation path for critical business needs, supplier support, or supplier quality issues and deliver resolution to factory leaders.

 The Supply Chain R&D Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Partnering with suppliers to monitor and improve fleet performance, resolve equipment quality issues, and drive enhancements through Continuous Improvement Processes (CIP) and next-generation technology development life-cycle with a global fleet.
  • Support and interpret key development projects providing a balance of technology advancement, yield improvement, tool reliability, cost, and machine lifecycle.
  • Collaboration with Technology Development (TD) engineers to create and maintain relevant purchase specifications and mutual expectation documents to minimize gaps in supplier capability requirements.
  • Evaluating engineering change notifications to assess impact and ensure all stakeholders are aligned to changes.
  • Completing equipment source inspection, acceptance testing to meet safety, quality, reliability, cost, yield, productivity, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Conducting DOE studies relative to cost control, process control, and production yield and implements plans and programs to optimize inspection solutions.
  • Identify new relevant technology or process improvements through industry benchmarking.
  • Specific responsibilities may vary depending upon the engineering role within the supply chain.

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. This position is not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship. 

Minimum Qualifications:

The candidate must possess at least one of the following degrees; plus, the years of experience determined for each degree in the areas specified below:

1- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering: preferable in Mechanical, Robotics, Electrical, Physics, Optics, or related field of study with 6+ years of experience.

2- Master's Degree in Engineering: preferable in Mechanical, Robotics, Electrical, Physics, Optics, or related field of study with 4+ years of experience.

Expertise Areas:

  • Formal project management training; PMP certificate.
  • Machine Design, tooling, robotic, mechanical, electrical systems, or other applied engineering-based skills.
  • Machine Vision, 3D Imagining, 2DID Matrix, and Vision integration systems.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM) methods.
  • HVM manufacturing environment in the aspects of semiconductor fabrication/Assembly test manufacturing.
  • Troubleshooting fundamentals with any of the following: Electromechanical, Motors, Sensors, Pneumatic, and Machine Vision components.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Product Development and Supplier negotiations.
  • Experience working across geographies is a plus.
  • Background and experience with statistical data analysis.
  • Experience with automated technology and equipment development.
  • 3D CAD Modeling programs like SolidWorks or AutoCAD
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GDT) principles.
  • Machine Shop Tooling and Parts Manufacturing processes.

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
