The Sustainability Program Office in Intel's Software and Advanced Technology Group exists to incubate and support initiatives that make sustainable engineering core to Intel's cultural transformation. As awareness of sustainability and the ecological impact of computing grows, our team serves as a center of expertise and a catalyst for colleagues and the industry at large to set and scale requirements for new standards in product design, in line with Intel's broader corporate responsibility goals.
We seek
an accomplished software power/performance engineer to complement
our growing team of researchers and technologists and develop
measurement methods and standards to quantify the carbon cost of
compute. As a measurement expert in SATG, you will work alongside
UX researchers, strategists, SW and HW architects, developing
quick-turn proofs-of-concept, adapting existing tools and creating
new ones. You will document and communicate measurement principals
and methods in ways that can be used and understood by technical
teams inside and outside of Intel. Benefiting from Intel's solid
tradition of establishing methods and industry specifications, and
partnering with Intel Labs, the open Intel office, and other
cross-Intel product teams, this role will be a growth opportunity

industry.
Responsibilities:
Understand available Intel and industry power/performance measurement tools for endpoint, networking and data center products.
Devise quick-turn proof-of-concept experiments to identify needed adjustments in existing toolsets for carbon calculations.
Collaborate closely with UX, software, hardware and open source partners to propose adaptations to existing measurement and development tools for carbon consumption calculation/communication.
Propose standard measurement methods for Intel and Industry in calculating carbon cost of compute.

Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor or Master of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
At least 8 years of relevant software development experience.
Experience with workload/benchmark measurement and characterization using standard power/performance tools: EMON/SEP/VTune, Linux perf, Linux Sysstat (Sar, Vmstat, Iostat), Powertop, Windows Perfmon, for example.
Excellent communication and cross-organization collaboration skills.
Solid problem solving skills and willing to break down complex problem statements.
Solid verbal and written communication skills with willingness to communicate complex ideas to audiences of varied technical capabilities.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Knowledge of Intel's performance and power tools in client, IOTG, networking and/or server environment, for adaptation to sustainability measurements.
Good understanding of Open Source community and practices
Masters degree or higher in CE, CS, EE or similar STEM.

Range for jobs which could be performed in US,
Colorado:
$162,940.00-$260,600.00

Work Model for this Role
This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
