The Intel NPG team is chartered with developing advanced prototypes of various technologies to deliver innovative and state of the art wireless experiences into the market within the Internet of Things and other world-class wireless connectivity technologies and products.

We are looking for a Software and System Test Engineer to work in NPG Radio Access Network System Integration and Test (SIT) team. This position will provide an opportunity to test and debug complex systems comprised of multiple connected nodes.

In this role you will work independently as well as with peers and stakeholders typically including test and development engineers, system engineers and software architects. A highly motivated, autonomous problem solver with an willing to debug and root cause complex problems, and an effective team player will be a successful fit for this position.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills in addition to the qualifications listed below.

  • Knowledgeable of Continuous Integration development process using Github tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and inter-personal skills, collaborate cross-teams and cross-sites.
  • Willing to adapt in a fast-paced work environment
  • Very strong problem solving and debugging skills.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Execute integration tests or complete system test cases in the lab as part of our Continuous Integration software development process.
  • Create detailed test cases based on standard specifications, design documents and project requirements.
  • Create test case scripts, debug and execute test cases for increased test coverage.
  • Formulate and clearly communicate development and test plans, progress and status of the assigned work and observed issues.
  • Work closely with development, software architecture, systems, and SIT team members to resolve issues and develop solutions.
  • Proactively handle execution tasks, narrow down issues to component level and promptly notify the concerned team

**Domestic and international travel may be required for proof of concept demonstrations, execute interoperability testing at the partner premises or to support customers in trials.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or related field) with 4+ years of relevant experience, or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Test Engineering experience
  • Experience with testing LTE or 5G products in a cabled environment, as well as over the air in a test network.
  • Proficient in generating test plans with detailed test cases based on 3GPP specifications or project design documents.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with software development and configuration management process, testing methodologies, and tools (GIT).
  • Experienced in creating scripts for automating test tasks.
  • Willing to correlate data from multiple logs/components in order to identify the failing component.
  • Excellent knowledge of 5G NR/LTE 3GPP standards, from physical layer through the protocol stack and core network in an O-RAN design.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience debugging Cloud based deployment technologies (Kubernetes/containerization).
  • Good knowledge of Ethernet networking technologies (802.3Qbv, 802.1AS, 802.1Q, TSN, Industrial Ethernet).
  • Highly proficient with test equipment in the lab, such as UE simulators, Vector Signal Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Waveform Generators, Traffic Generators.
  • Proficient in debugging end to end TCPIP performance issues over wireless connections.
  • Highly knowledgeable and experienced in working in a Linux environment (RT kernel, name spaces, Docker containers, MAC VLANs, virtual interfaces, inter-container communication, DPDK).

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
