We are seeking a driven systems analyst to support the USNDS (United States Nuclear Detonation Detection System) program. Join our dynamic team to work with a multi-disciplinary team as well as independently to solve complex problems across USNDS! USNDS encompasses monitoring for nuclear explosions in the atmosphere and space using space-based sensors and attendant ground processing. The selected applicant will perform various system studies and analyses and provide technical solutions from a high level and, as needed, at a detailed level. This includes statistical analysis, modeling and simulation, atmospheric phenomenology, nuclear phenomenology, communication and telemetry systems, GPS and other satellite fundamentals, remote sensing, and data analysis technologies (hardware/software).

On any given day, your duties may include:

+ Perform system trade studies using existing simulation tools.
+ Research, evaluate, design, and develop system solutions addressing the issues relevant to USNDS program.
+ Provide decision insight to customers in ill-defined or complex multi-domain problem areas in space, control, and ground segments, by applying critical thinking using a diversity of technical skills and expertise.
+ Develop, evaluate, and utilize analytical and computational tools for the evaluation of complex systems and systems-of-systems.
+ Apply systems engineering concepts to plan, analyze, organize, and integrate system capabilities


+ Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant STEM field plus one year technical experience or Bachelor's Degree in stated field plus 5 years' experience
+ Experience with independently defining analysis tasks, documenting results, and communicating outcomes to partners
+ Proficient with scripting and statistical analysis or visualization using Python, R, or similar tools
+ Ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance


+ Proficiency in self-directed problem solving
+ Proven ability to distill complicated issues into succinct summaries
+ Demonstrated ability to work well on a multidisciplinary team
+ Familiarity with remote sensing, including mission engineering
+ Experience with formal systems engineering processes, requirements derivation, and product verification/validation for complex systems
+ Active DOE Q clearance

Department Description:

We provide research and development (R&D), systems engineering, system analysis, system test, and project management for the United States Nuclear Detonation Detection System to DoD and DOE sponsors. Using systems engineering expertise to support USNDS space and ground systems throughout the lifecycle, the team utilizes advanced modeling and simulation capabilities to assess USNDS performance as a system-of-systems in order to inform mission partner decisions. We work closely with ground and flight systems (SNL and LANL) to ensure that USNDS needs are met, and is the program office for the operational users at the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC).
