This is a Lockheed Martin position on the Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) Site Activation Team (SAT) / Mission Control Team (MCT) at Schriever AFB (SAFB) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The AEHF Program develops and fields a constellation of geo-synchronous satellites to provide worldwide, secure, survivable, protected communications to Milstar and AEHF users. The AEHF SAT/MCT is responsible for conducting AEHF satellite launch readiness planning, and will perform console operations during launch, orbit raising, payload activation, and on-orbit test using Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) ground system resources and the AEHF Command and Control – Consolidated (CCS-C) ground system

This position is for the AEHF SAT Launch Engineering Manager. The selected candidate should possess Launch Ops knowledge/experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: provide supervision, leadership, technical direction, operations and system engineering support for the AEHF program in support of the SAT Launch Team Manager. Provide technical oversight, guidance, and support to the Flight Engineering, Readiness, Rehearsal Anomaly Team, and Vehicle Products functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for directly managing ~10-15 employees, in addition to being an individual contributor on the SAT/MCT. This is an L-Coded position with responsibilities that include conducting performance management, merit planning, employee council and discipline, interviewing, hiring and conducting maintaining full spectrum leadership of assigned team

The Launch Engineering Manager will support the SAT Manager to assure contractor responsiveness to the AEHF Program Office and Prime customer, direct and coordinate the planning, integration, and scheduling of all AEHF Factory and Space Vehicle requirements, oversee, provide guidance, and technical direction for the Mission Control Force readiness effort, ensure readiness events meet all Flight Management Working Group defined objectives, and confirm all Vehicle products (TAOs, HMIs, AFMs, etc.) meet the expectations of our SSC and AF customers. In addition, this position will provide real-time leadership and direction to the MCF as one of the designated Flight Managers during launch and test operations. The selected candidate will be expected to achieve operational certification as an Operations Controller (OC) and perform on-console ops support as required during AEHF orbit raising and test periods

Additional responsibilities include: Develop and implement near-term and long-term strategies to assure 100% mission success. Manage contract budget commitments and assure that staffing levels are maintained as defined within the ETCs, provide periodic reports and briefings on performance of established targets, identify and assess areas of engineering and operational risks, and establish plans to address risk areas. The selected candidate will establish and maintain an organizational environment that is based on high ethical standards and LM core values, provide leadership and training to ensure honesty, integrity, respect, trust, responsibility and citizenship. Ensure a workforce that reflects and utilizes the diverse strengths and characteristics of individual employees, assure compliance with company and program policies, conduct personnel development training where appropriate, manage the LM performance appraisal process and perform salary management planning

Work shift: Normal day time shift hours during readiness activities, but will require off-shift and weekend support during exercises, rehearsals, and the multi-month period (~6 months) of Launch/Orbit Raising/Test operations

Basic Qualifications
Demonstrated experience as a Leader of complex teams in a dynamic environment
Demonstrated experience in satellite launch readiness and satellite operations
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience managing schedules and meeting critical milestones
Demonstrated teamwork, communications, and inter-personal skills
Current DoD Interim Secret clearance

Desired skills
Active DoD Top Secret clearance
Experience communicating directly with and briefing USAF SMC/MCA customers
Experience managing budgets and other project resources
Experience performing real-time, on-console AEHF satellite launch and orbit raising ops
Previous certification as an AEHF MCT Ops Controller and operational experience using the Milsatcom CCS-C C2 ground system
Experience leading and developing AEHF satellite readiness training
Experience performing satellite simulation scenario development and execution
