Manager will provide leadership and functional management for approximately 15-20 engineers in a Sensor Systems Engineering group. The manager will be responsible for providing the skills, tools and processes to develop, optimize, and document sensor systems as standalone systems and as part of a system of systems. This manager will also be responsible for: ensuring the conversion of mission requirements into total systems solutions that account for design and technology maturity constraints of the system; developing systems and system element architecture, design, and interface definition; documenting system architectures including sub-system interfaces and high level structures for multiple views (operational, functional, physical, etc.); executing trade studies in support of architecture definition; enhancing and expanding the use of model based system engineering (MBSE) for system development; and defining, measuring, and enhancing the impact of systems engineering techniques on a products’ technical, cost, and schedule performance. The manager may also support and oversee the development and execution of engineering plans including SEMP, IMP, and RMP. It is expected that the Manager will be 50-75% applied doing direct program tasking in some type of leadership capacity already. The manager is expected to have a minimum of 10-12 years or equivalent of System Engineering experience in areas including system design and synthesis, requirements analysis and management, system integration planning and execution, system test planning and execution. Functional responsibilities include: 1) Assignment of work tasks, providing performance appraisals, career planning, and training development required for direct reports. 2) Conduct staffing and manpower planning to support current and anticipated projects, including interviewing and hiring personnel as required. Coordinate staffing requirements closely with Chief Engineers team. 3) Define, communicate and coordinate staffing priorities as well as funding requirements with the appropriate project leads. 4) Act as a stakeholder for programs ensuring domain area is appropriately represented. 5) Review and approve functional proposal inputs including BOEs and scopes of work. 6) Own, execute, and status department level initiatives. 7) Act as change agent in responsible area with focus on affordability and advancing technical capabilities and innovation

Basic Qualifications
BS in EE, SE, Computer Science/Engineering, Physics or equivalent degree

Final Secret Clearance level

Experience with other advanced SE techniques such as Agile and MBSD is a plus. Experience in several key domains including architecture, analysis, design, trade studies, integration, and test

Knowledge and understanding of systems for testability, reliability, maintainability, and availability. Detailed knowledge and understanding of systems engineering processes, the flow down of system requirements, and the interaction of system and subsystem requirements that result in a firm set of system and subsystem level performance requirements, subsystem integration, and system test

Strong risk management experience and expertise, including identification, mitigation and abatement planning and tracking

Demonstrated interpersonal, team-building skills, strong work ethic and self-motivation. Strong customer focus with a proven record of outstanding customer satisfaction.

Strong oral and written communications skills

Desired skills
Broad background in systems engineering and with specific experience in system modeling including Matlab, Rhapsody, and DOORS is desired
