Lockheed Martin (LM) is seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to be responsible for the development of a new Ground-Based Laser Turret. The Systems Engineer will oversee related LM IRAD initiatives and will be responsible for an associated hardware development contract. The Systems engineer will be an integral part of related program development activities.

The Systems Engineer will also perform technical oversight of the integration and test phase of a separate ground-based turret layered laser defense IRAD. The scope of the combined IRADs and related contract require excellent leadership and manpower coordination skills with a technical team of approximately 15 engineers.

This position requires a Systems Engineer who is a strong communicator in both verbal and slide/summary presentations to upper technical and program management. The successful candidate must be capable of autonomy with respect to organizational hierarchy, able to make technical trade decisions with less than full information and understand and communicate consequences and advantages effectively. The Systems Engineer must be an enabler and recruiter of talent to be successful and must possess a proven history of positive interactions in challenging environments

Basic Qualifications
Candidate must demonstrate the ability to oversee and participate in the following program development activities:

Perform requirements definition of achievable design characteristics for an objective system

Synthesize design characteristics into an implemental system architecture

Flow system level requirements to testable structures and modular hardware and software using DOORS

Perform trade studies and Risk and Opportunity Management analyses

Define and track Technical Performance Measures (TPM's)

Perform detail system verification activities including definition of verification methodology

Generate and execute a Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP)

Define system tolerances and timelines

Conduct a thorough functional configuration audit with verification evidence provided

Must have an active Secret (or higher) clearance

Desired skills
Candidate should have turret or multiple sensor experience, mechanical development experience with demonstrated lab integration leadership. or organization.

The expectations of this role are to be technically broad, but over a development that is mostly mechanical, optical, and servo with performance requirements that may be tighter than most other programs.

Person should autonomous and be capable of leading a diverse and time-challenged team to success.

Demonstrated experience with inventive risk reduction planning and execution on new technologies is desired.

Demonstrated aptitude to rapidly learn and lead new technology areas desired
