Job Description:
Seeking motivated 1st shift Technical Support Engineer for fast paced role at Raytheon Technologies, Raytheon Missile & Defense (RMD), Test Equipment Maintenance and Repair (TEMR) department, located in Andover Massachusetts. The TEMR department provides Raytheon, RMD North East, with world class calibration, maintenance and repair solutions supporting numerous production programs. The TEMR department also provides support in capital equipment planning, project development of new test platforms and site acceptance to production, as well as providing solutions to address test equipment obsolescence and spares management. The TEMR Department provides electrical and mechanical calibration and repair services of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) test equipment as well as unique manual and automatic test systems. The complement of test stations serviced includes, robotic, digital/logic & solid state, Radio Frequency, DC low frequency, AC high power, vibration, in-circuit probe test, linear measurement, and burn-in among many others.

The candidate will leverage communication skills through daily interaction with other cross-business teams to meet organizational and program goals and objectives. Candidate must have strong ability to multi-task and ability to adjust and work to revolving priorities:

  • The Technical Support Engineer will provide coordination, logistic, and technical support as an individual contributor advancing TEMR departmental objectives
  • Collaborates and coordinates closely with the Test Development Department of engineering (TDD), Test Engineering (TE), Security, Property Control and TEMR floor managers to advance site acceptance of test stations and support of test station End-of-Life cycle management
  • Reviews newly designed test station documentation and physical station layout for completeness and ensures adherence to TEMR calibration policies, database entry & traceability requirements, property control, safety, and security requirements
  • Assists in the development of maintenance engineering and logistics support. Plans and contributes to proposal efforts. Analyzes technical data and reports to determine spares and support equipment provisioning requirements
  • Establishes calibration requirements for test measurement and diagnostic equipment, end item test stations including any associated preventative maintenance
  • Updates Calibration Control database (SMART); uses Cal Control database (SMART) to search for spare assets; creates Test Equipment Requests (TER's); performs Certificate of Calibration reviews for compliance to Quality requirements and conducts quality and timely data-input entry into various data management systems ensuring always accurate, reliable, and traceable calibration certificate and data storage
  • Communicates needed corrections/actions to responsible leads, promptly

Required Skills:
  • Experience with and understanding of general calibration philosophies and traceability to national standards; experience working with test measurement and diagnostic equipment, calibration processes and calibration quality standards
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience developing, editing, and improving preventative maintenance and calibration procedures using intuitive techniques and methodologies
  • Provides high quality, on-time, communication and coordination to TEMR leadership and supported customers.
  • Experience working with the following systems: PRISM, APEX, SAP, UPS, SMART and ACCESS Database or similar planning tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate with various disciplines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to use and apply schematics, drawings, and diagnostic tools, to isolate and repair equipment and station faults, often times in a high tempo environment where speed of troubleshooting directly impacts ability to meet contract commitments
  • Elevated computer literacy; proficient working Webview/PDM, and VBS
  • Understanding of metrology and traceability to national standards as well as experience using calibration management systems such as ASSET SMART or METCAL is a plus. Experience with ISO 17025 and ANSI Z540 metrology standards is a plus
  • Experience using common troubleshooting tools such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, counters, signal generators, pulse generators
  • Prior experience working with represented (union) employees preferred
  • Experience with Six Sigma, WPO, LEAN 6S principles or similar process improvement methodologies desired
  • Requires proficient experience with, and preparation of, reports and slides utilizing Microsoft Office suite of productsOutlook, Excel, Power Point
  • Must be able to prioritize and balance multiple assignments simultaneously and operate in a high tempo operations environment.
Required Education:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of related experience and education. Experience is a valid substitute for education
