Job Description

Looking for a technical writer with Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in Healthcare / Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS).
The primary work assignment would be as a technical writer for Government projects serving the Justice, Public Safety, Health, and DOD Command and Control (C2) communities. Projects focus on secure sharing of information between state, local, and federal agency information systems, focusing on standards development and information sharing systems and tools. Each agency we work with is autonomous and has a unique architecture and legacy infrastructure. GTRI serves as the principal architect and integrator and provides technical guidance to numerous agencies and contractors.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in English and 4+ years of experience writing developer facing documentation, creating technical diagrams, and documenting process flows.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Can provide portfolio of prior technical writing samples & diagrams
  • Can demonstrate thorough experience in prior job role(s) related to Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) / Medicaid
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with engineers to produce technical documentation & requirements
  • Established ability to learn technical concepts quickly
  • Demonstrated ability to write technically accurate, concise, and thorough content
  • Properly organize documentation, from the layout of content on a page to finding its proper place in the entire documentation taxonomy, with search optimization in mind
  • Able to work through all stages of content development: concept, outline, draft, external review, revise, publish
  • Are thorough in attention to spelling, grammar, and formatting according to defined styles
  • Demonstrated ability to review and copy edit the content created by non-writers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Know how to use XML, HTML, DocBook or related formats and standards with technical help authoring tools, such as MadCap Flare, Visio, RoboHelp, or FrameMaker (to name a few)
  • Written documentation for REST APIs.

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
