The Electrical Engineering Program at the University of Portland (UP) seeks a tenure track assistant professor to join a thriving academic community in August 2020. The program offers a BSEE degree and a minor in Computer Engineering so we strongly encourage applicants with expertise in areas related to digital systems to consider this position. In addition, applicants with expertise in other areas related to electrical engineering and computer engineering will also be considered. This is an ideal position for educators who are passionate about teaching and scholarship in a student-centered institution where we strive for a balance of professional education within a liberal arts environment.

This is a full-time, 9-month (August-May) tenure-track faculty position with benefits. Benefits include: medical & dental insurance, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, sick time, tuition remission benefits, retirement contributions (generally after 2 years of employment), and eligibility for the University’s home purchase assistance program. (Please note that eligibility for all University benefits is subject to applicable policies, practices, and requirements.)

We will conduct the first review of applications on December 2, 2019 and continue until the position is filled.

The typical teaching load at UP is 18 semester credit hours per year (approximately 3 courses per semester). In addition to teaching undergraduate and masters level electrical engineering courses, the faculty share in the teaching of the engineering service courses such as Introduction to Engineering, Engineering Computing with Applications, Analysis of Engineering Data, Engineering Economics, and Capstone Project. Our faculty also engage in scholarly activity within the context of a teaching-oriented university while serving the University.

The Donald P. Shiley School of Engineering has an enrollment of approximately 650 students across four undergraduate majors (electrical engineering, computer science, civil, and mechanical engineering) as well as two master’s programs. For more details, see:  https://engineering.up.edu
