Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position in Electrical Engineering

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Cleveland State University (CSU) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Electrical Engineering, to begin on August 17, 2020. Applicants in all areas of Electrical Engineering will be considered; those in the following areas are particularly encouraged: Internet of Things, Cyber Security, Robotics, Wireless Communications (including 5G), Cyber-Physical Systems and Autonomous Systems. Applicants should have PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field by July 1, 2020. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a strong, externally funded research program, supervise students and engage them at all levels in their research, and actively participate in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in Electrical Engineering. Minimum qualifications for the position are: (1) Earned Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, (2) Established research experience in a prominent area of Electrical Engineering. Preferred qualifications for the position are: (1) Excellent Teaching skills (includes the ability to supervise students and engage them at all levels in their research and actively participate at both undergraduate and graduate levels), (2) Excellent communication skills, (3) Ability to develop and maintain strong, externally funded research programs, (4) Ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is the largest in the Washkewicz College of Engineering, offering doctoral, master’s and ABET-accredited bachelor’s degrees, with over 500 bachelor’s students, over 200 master’s and doctoral students, 23 full-time faculty members, and over $8 million in research funding. Current research areas in the department include artificial intelligence, computer science, control systems, embedded systems, human motion and control, mobile computing, nanobiotechnology, network security and privacy, power systems, power electronics, programming languages, robotics, software engineering, and wireless sensor networks.
