Tenure Track Professorship (W1) for Networked Automation

 

 

INSTITUTE OF INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION AND SOFTWARE ENGINEERING Iat the earliest opportunity

The new professorship is to strengthen information technology at the University of Stuttgart and is to cover both hardware and software aspects for applications of automation technology.

Preferably, research and teaching of the professorship is to be aligned with one or multiple of the topics as given below, with possible future combinations of the same.

  • Hardware-related signal preprocessing in software defined networked automation systems
  • Fail-Safe-concepts for hardware and software of networked cyber-physical automation systems
  • Integration of field devices into the networked communication of automation systems
  • Hardware-/Software-Co-Design automation technology, in particular concerning specific real-time applications

 

We expect active participation in the interdisciplinary research programs of the faculty, in particular in „Cyber Valley“, one of the prominent research initiatives of the land Baden-Wurttemberg, and „Arena 2036“, a cooperation interface platform between university and industry. We expect active engagement in competing for publicly funded projects as well as successful collaboration in funded projects with partners from industry.

 

We expect participation in teaching study programs of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, particularly with a focus on networked automation systems, in the English international master program „Infotech“ as well as in study programs of other faculties.

 

Excellent young scientists and researchers from the field of automation technology and related areas such as information technology for automation applications are explicitly encouraged to apply.

 

The professorship is funded in the context of the joint programme for the promotion of early career researchers by the German federal and state-governments. The position is a tenure track position leading to an appointment as a W3 professor in case of a positive evaluation. The requirements for employment listed in § 51 Baden-Württemberg university law apply.
