The Thermal Mechanical
Solutions group in Data Center and AI
(DCAI)is seeking an experienced Thermal Architect with a background
in electronics cooling. You will join a dynamic and fast paced
environment with a team of experienced Architects and Leads that
focus on driving consistent definition, direction, and evolution of
Platforms. In this role, you will be a key contributor in the
platform architecture process and be responsible for thermal
aspects of Xeon platforms, silicon and enabled components. The
position requires strong technical acumen, problem-solving skills,
thrive with ambiguity in a highly technical field and attention to
quality. This position will also require strong and proactive
collaboration with DCAI teams, Si Design and Architecture,
Assembly Test Technology Development
(ATTD), customer facing teams and engaging directly with external
customers.
Key Responsibilities include but not
limited to:
Alignment with Planning and Platform Architecture on thermal solution space for new platform and delivering thermal boundary conditions, package thermals and thermal solution strategy.
Work with other Engineers and Architects to support multiple platforms with traditional and advanced cooling technologies to meet the thermal challenges of increasing power density and power/performance requirements on future servers.
Path finding, development and validation of platform level cooling solutions for Intel processor-based server systems through both simulation and testing. The thermal design process covers all aspects of platform cooling including design optimization, component placement, airflow/ducting requirements, fan speed control algorithms, component heat sink designs and design tradeoffs.

Qualifications
You
must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially
considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in
addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a positive
factor in identifying top candidates. Requirements listed may be
obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience,
internship experiences and/or schoolwork/classes/research.
Minimum Requirements:
The
candidate must have a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical
Engineering or related field with 5+ years of industry
experience or PhD degree with 1+ years of industry
experience .
Minimum
Qualifications:
Thorough knowledge of fluid dynamics, mechanics and heat transfer
Knowledge of computer server systems and Data Centers
5 + years of experience in heat transfer
5 + years of experience with thermal simulation software (such as Flotherm or Icepak)
5 + years of hands-on experience with thermal testing
Additional Desired
Qualifications:
Minor in Mathematics
5+ years of experience specific to electronics cooling
1+ year of experience with Acoustic testing
Technical report writing experience
Demonstrated skills in problem solving
Working knowledge of Pro/e, MATLAB, Labview and statistical methodologies such as Monte-Carlo simulation.
