DPG Business Innovation Office (DBIO) is looking for a hands-on, highly capable Thermal-Mechanical Data Analysis Engineer.

In this role you will have ample opportunity for your thermal theory, manufacturing intuition, metrology knowledge, hands-on lab experience, and thermal characterization expertise to be challenged and grow. Your work will be focused on developing innovative best-in-class cooling technologies with an eye towards new technology applications and new business opportunities.

Our team is leading the creation of new business opportunities in areas that are of strategic importance for Data Center and AI Group (DCAI), and specifically for Data Centers of the Future. We champion the product and business innovation for sustainability, while driving an integrated offense including co-engineering with startup companies, ecosystem players, key customers, and other partners within and outside of Intel to accelerate go-to-market.

If you thrive on solving tough problems, conceiving and expeditiously fabricating prototype solutions, documenting processes for repeatability, characterizing and boiling down data to gain insight to end-to-end data center solutions, then this is a position you should strive for. Responsibilities may include:

  • Document detailed thermal Proof of Concept (POC) requirements.

  • Design experiments and specific test plans.

  • Conduct thermal testing and characterization (advanced).

  • Analyze complex data (deep analysis) and draw conclusions.

  • Work on/or design Hardware for POC's with innovative concepts.

  • Design / fabricate / assemble prototypes.

  • Operate lab and characterization equipment.

  • Understand how characterization results impact data center efficiency and draw conclusions.

  • Research new cooling methods and summarize.

  • Research and assess new thermal technologies.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a positive factor in identifying top candidates. Requirements listed may be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.

Minimum Requirements:

The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.

Minimum Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in one or more:

  • Operating specific lab equipment including data acquisition instruments and servers.

  • Conduct thermal analysis.

  • Configure enterprise and client platform for thermal test.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Microsoft Excel moderate user capability.

  • Heat transfer fundamentals.

  • Test plan and detailed test instruction development.

  • Document procedures and results clearly and efficiently.

  • Solid modeling with Pro/Engineer or Solid Works.

  • Setup of data acquisition equipment and instrumentation.

  • Apply geometric tolerance methods.

  • Understanding and practical application of structural design.

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
