Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join the DCAI's Cloud Engineering Hardware (CE-HW) team as a Thermal/Mechanical Engineer. This individual will be part of a larger a cross functional Architecture/Engineering team (i.e. Board/ System, Thermal/Mechanical, SI/PI/PD, etc.) responsible for Co-Engineering Cloud Systems with strategic Cloud Service Providers (CSPs).

Additionally, this person will be a leader in CE-HW's Thermal/Mechanical Center of Excellence (CoE) - defining/driving/bringing to market new platform level innovations and solutions that:
- Proactively addresses Thermal/Mechanical issues our CSPs face
- Integrate Intel's Adjacent Technologies/Solutions (i.e. Networking, PMEM, AI/Machine Learning, etc.)
- Drive new new thermal/mechanical innovations that push next level thermal performance within the CSP's environment

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Architect, model, and design thermal/mechanical solutions that meet both internal and external requirements (system, board, and component level)
- Thermal modeling of platform applications that provide high confidence thermal performance in all CSP environments
- Create new thermal/mechanical innovations that enable higher thermal performance on Intel solutions (fail, learn, succeed)
- Work with internal stakeholders to be the CSP voice/feedback loop to the greater Intel (i.e. improve current and future TMDGs, educate CSP challenges and roadblocks, etc.)
- Analyze thermal test/validation data and correlate to thermal modeling.


The candidate must have a Bachelor of Science degree with a minimum of 4+ years of industry experience, Masters of Science degree with 2+ years of industry experience, or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Additional qualifications include:
- A strong technical background in heat transfer, thermal engineering, and test/validation techniques of said solutions.
- Broad thermal engineering skills with proficiency in thermal simulation tools Flotherm or IcePak
- Background of 3D modeling tools (i.e. AutoCAD, Solidworks, or Pro\Engineer-Creo)
- A deep technical background in either System or Platform design relating to passive and active (forced air and liquid) thermal solutions
- Capacity to work independently and in a solid team environment
- Outstanding interpersonal communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including Injection Molding, Extrusions, Sheet Metal and CNN would be an added advantage

Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
