ABOUT HIGG CO

Higg Co is a technology company that delivers, implements, and supports the Higg Index for consumer goods industries. Developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, the Higg Index is a suite of tools that enables brands, retailers, and facilities of all sizes — at every stage in their sustainability journey — to accurately measure and score a company or product’s sustainability performance. THE OPPORTUNITY

In this role, you will drive the development of an integrated marketing strategy for our most important growth initiatives. You will be responsible for planning and executing programs to drive awareness, brand loyalty, and growth of the Higg Index in key markets. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Executive Team, you will keep the broader team informed of all marketing and communications plans and campaign metrics, and provide insight on how to improve our efforts including UX, product development, and customer support. Additionally, you’ll work hand in hand with the Communications team at our partner organization, the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, ensuring cohesion across our shared user base. 

You must be a great storyteller, customer-centric, data-driven, and results oriented. You will represent the customer voice and Higg Co’s brand, drive the strategy and execution of campaigns, and manage the ongoing customer journey.

This is a fully remote full-time position. Working location is flexible with a preference for metropolitan hubs on the US West Coast or Mountain West.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Strategy 

  • Lead the development of an integrated, multi-channel communications strategy that aligns with Higg Co’s goals and objectives, including market sizing and new product selection 
  • Lead the roll-out of an integrated launch strategy for consumer communications of the Higg Index, building on communication standards work developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition  
  • Develop clear messaging around Higg Co’s technology and value proposition
  • Work in close partnership with the Sustainable Apparel Coalition’s Communications team to align on shared audience strategy 
  • Help shape the Higg Co brand design, voice and tone; set clear guidelines that drive consistency across communications
  • Develop content for the communications strategy including web, email, and social
  • Lead market research to help inform product development, positioning and pricing 

Execution 

  • Execute email marketing campaigns across targeted audience segments to drive awareness and conversion
  • Maintain relationships with and oversight over outsourced agencies 
  • Develop and manage communications calendar
  • Represent the organization to the media and to important stakeholders 

Management

  • Flexible to occasionally work early or late hours and, when needed on a limited basis, travel globally to support Higg Co’s client base of global organizations
  • Track and report on campaign metrics
  • Build out a small but growing marketing and communications infrastructure with preferred outside agencies and contractors as well as junior full-time marketing staff 
  • Oversee junior employees of marketing & communications team and provide guidance as needed; be involved in interviewing, hiring, and career life cycle decisions within the department
  • Oversee contractors and external agencies and provide contract milestones and terms
  • Partner with event team to develop marketing materials and work closely with executive team 
  • Manage a growing marketing and communications budget

  • An executive with a bias for action--understands time sensitivity, and when to stop strategizing and start executing
  • Someone of mental grit and innate empathy; brings a sense of levity and perspective to the table; empathetic human who values the same in others.

YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE

  • Prior experience in a team within a remote work environment required, or clear, demonstrated comfort level in this type of environment
  • Experience driving an integrated communications program at a start-up or early stage organization 
  • Very solid understanding of analytics (ideally 5+ years)
  • Experience in a fast-paced, growing B2B technology/SaaS organization OR deep experience in a sustainability organization that included technology implementation
  • Familiarity with sustainability concepts
  • Experience building and leading a team of junior marketing and communications professionals

ADDITIONALLY, NOT REQUIRED BUT IDEAL TO HAVE

  • Fluency across a variety of technology tools including Wordpress/CMS, Adobe Creative Suite, and common mailers
  • Demonstrated commitment to social and / or environmental issues
