We have an opening for a Weapons Infrastructure (WI) Group Leader. You will be responsible for supervising a multidisciplinary team of engineers involved in all aspects of the development and execution of complex, multiyear infrastructure plans to support Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) mission delivery. You will also be required to plan, manage, and execute recapitalization projects to support WI. This position is in the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED), within the Engineering Directorate.

This position will be filled at either the SEL.3 or SEL.4 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.

Essential Duties
- Providetechnical advice tothe Weapons Infrastructure Deputy Program Leader managing the efforts and priorities in support of Weapons and Complex Integration (WCI) and the broad infrastructure activities within the program and laboratory.
- Provide technical mentorship, leadership, security, and administrative supervision to group members in the execution of their work scope.
- Apply advanced technical knowledge and methodologies to guide successful completion of project and organizational goals and represent the organization as primary technical contact on various tasks and projects.
- Develop requirements, designs, project scope, costs, schedules, and risk plans to field and execute projects focused on programmatic equipment and/or unique custom program equipment that requires collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs) to write statements of work and their integration with real property (facility).
- Collaborate with mission support organizations in Operations and Business (O&B), Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H), and Science, Technology and Engineering (ST&E) to direct successful project execution.
- Prepare annual performance appraisals for group personnel and contribute to the division ranking and salary processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the SEL.4 Level
- Lead long-term programmatic efforts by fostering staff development and participate in hiring activities for the group and the division.
- Serve as a primary technical contact for group activities and contribute to design reviews by acting as a chairperson, panel member, or reviewer while upholding the Engineering principles for such reviews.
- Mentor staff across the organization, including other mentors.

- Bachelors degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Significant experience working with Laboratory operation and business processes.
- Experience providing leadership and working with the science, technology, and engineering community and knowledge of nuclear weapons programs, weapons engineering, and core capabilities.
- Broad expertise in engineering project leadership, including work planning, scheduling, cost estimating, risk analysis, estimating and reporting, as well as facility construction and/or equipment acquisition. .
- Advanced knowledge of hardware design, fabrication, installation, and commission.
- Ability to use independent judgment and initiative to work towards objectives in a self-directed manner, as well as lead in a team environment providing deliverables on cost and schedule.
- Understanding of the NNSA complex, customer/sponsor requirements, and experience with management, including supervision, budget, processes, mission, and business trends.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and present and explain technical information and provide advice to management.
In Addition at the SEL.4 Level
- Advanced knowledge and experience to deliver infrastructure to support technical capabilities integrating both scientific equipment and facilities modernization.
- Substantial experience leading the development and execution of infrastructure plans supporting mission delivery and providing effective leadership and direction to technical staff members in a team environment with a strategic focus.
- Experience working productively with NNSA program offices and the Livermore Field Office (LFO).

Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Pre-Employment Drug Test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance: This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at time of hire.

Note: This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
