Apple's Applied Machine Learning team has built systems for a number of large scale data science applications. We work on many high-impact projects that serve various Apple lines of business. We use the latest in open source technology and as committers on some of these projects, we are pushing the envelope. Working with multiple lines of business, we manage many streams of Apple-scale data. We bring it all together and extract the value. We do all this with an exceptional group of software engineers, data scientists, dev-ops engineers and managers.

Key Qualifications

  • Build pixel-perfect Web UI in: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Develop code and build unit tests for open source, Flux-based frameworks such as ReactJS, Redux
  • Experienced in various templating languages, such as Mustache and JSX.
  • Build design patterns in Web UI that are reusable, cross-browser compatible, and responsive.
  • Experience with ES6 and Node.js (or other isomorphic javascript libraries)
  • Real passion for process improvement.
  • Excellent analytical skills, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to learn new technologies in a short time.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and dedication to quality; Excellent written and oral communication skills on both technical and non-technical topics.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, and time management skills; passion for leading, mentoring and developing junior team members.


The AML team is looking for an exceptional engineer to deliver complex and highly scalable software applications. If you're passionate about the user experience, have the opportunity to shape products, we may be the team for you.

This is a role of a Software engineer who will be responsible for the design, build and enhancements of a scalable highly concurrent distributed platform. Knowledge of popular Machine Learning tools and packages is helpful but can be an ongoing skill acquisition as part of the job. The mindset required and to be developed is how to process thousands of transactions per second, how to achieve the consistency without sacrificing the performance.

The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate the following characteristics and experience:

Self-starting, energetic individual with very strong leadership and technical capabilities.

An in-depth understanding of Internet technologies and architectures and general application development.

Flexible attitude and willing to take on new challenges - someone who is dynamic, high-energy and works with a sense of urgency.

Mastery of the full life-cycle development process and be eager to influence the processes adopted by the team in delivering projects.

Adhere and contribute towards architectural & development techniques and standards.

Willingness to work across the entire software stack, from provisioning of infrastructure through to software design, development and support.

Education & Experience

Master of Science or Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience

Additional Requirements

  • Exposure to developing UIs for Machine learning use cases
  • Familiarity with Compute and/or Machine Learning offerings from Amazon AWS
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Full stack experience
